Mila Kunis goes to Marine Corps Ball

As reported in July, Mila Kunis accepted the proposal of Sgt. Scott Moore to accompany him to the Marine Corps Ball. Last weekend, she kept her promise. The actress and Marine attended the ball in Greenville, North Carolina. The event was closed to the media.

Katie Halchishick shows Barbie is impossible

We all know that looking like Barbie is impossible (and undesirable IMHO). Now we have some idea of the difference between the doll and a real model. In the latest issue of O Magazine, model Katie Halchishick shows the changes she would have to undergo to match Barbie's dimensions (top picture below, from O Magazine). The procedures are too numerous to list here. However, as you can see from the bottom picture (from her site Healthy is the New Skinny), there's nothing wrong with Katie Halchishick the way she looks now.

Anna Faris's number? Five

Actress Anna Faris, perhaps best known for her roles in the Scary Movies series and House Bunny, is promoting her new movie, What's Your Number? about a woman trying to find Mr. Right among the 20 men she's slept with. Faris revealed that her real life number before she marrying husband Chris Pratt in 2009 is five. She said, "I'm not a very good lover. I’m so nervous about my sexuality."

Spot the HOPA

Elyse Porterfield, the woman who introduced the term "HOPA" to me, has been able to translate her fame as "Jenny Dry Erase" into more acting gigs. As she posted on her Facebook status, she will be appearing in several shows this season. This is good news for HOPA lovers everywhere!

Kelly Brook poses nude for PETA campaign

PETA's campaign "Whose Skin Are You In?" will feature a nude Kelly Brook with her body painted in scales. Brook said she participated to protest how snakes, alligators, and exotic animals are skinned alive. You gotta love a woman with principles.

Alexa Flutie, daughter of former Boston College/Chicago Bears/New England Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie, is now a New England Patriots cheerleader. She is also a former Miss Massachusetts. I don't know if she qualifies as a HOPA, but her dad was famous!

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are expecting their third child. The couple, who wed in 2005, already have two daughters, aged five and two.

T-Mobile girl in FX's "Powers"

Carly Foulkes, more popularly known as the T-Mobile girl, will appear in FX's new series "Powers", about a world where superpowers are common. Foulkes will play Retro Girl, who is already dead when the show opens but will supposedly be seen throughout the series anyway. Any additional airtime for the model/actress is a good thing.

Jennifer Love Hewitt was seen having drinks with Ben Flajnik in San Francisco last week. Flajnik was the runner up in the most recent season of Bachelorette. Apparently, JLH was a fan of Flajnik and was the one who pursued him. Some guys have all the luck!

Danica Patrick racing NASCAR and Indy, among highest paid female athletes

Danica Patrick, the first woman to win an IndyCar race, will continue racing on both the NASCAR and IndyCar circuits. She is reportedly close to signing a deal to drive for JR Motorsports in 2012. In other Danica news, Forbes reported that she is the third highest paid female athlete, earning $12 million last year. Topping the list is tennis star Maria Sharapova with $25 million. Caroline Wozniacki came in second on the list, just edging Danica at $12.5 million.

Caroline Wozniacki linked to Rory McIlroy

The world's #1 female tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, is now romantically linked to golfer Rory McIlroy, the U.S. Open champion. I don't follow golf, so I don't know who Rory McIlroy is, but I think Wozniacki is the hottest player since Maria Sharapova.

Mila Kunis agrees to go to Marine Corps Ball

Last month, Sgt Scott Moore asked Mila Kunis to go to the Marine Corps Ball with him via a Youtube video. At the urging of her Friends With Benefits co-star, Justin Timberlake, she agreed to do it. The ball is on Nov. 18 in North Carolina. I wish I had thought of this during my senior prom, but Youtube wasn't invented yet.

Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez to get stars

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez will receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012. Others selected to receive stars include Vin Diesel, Kate Winslet, Walter Koenig, and Adam West.

Jennifer Connelly welcomes baby girl

Actress Jennifer Connelly gave birth to a baby girl named Agnes Lark. This is the third child for Connelly and second with husband Paul Bettany. Connelly also has a son from a previous relationship.

OK! Magazine reports that former tennis player Anna Kournikova will replace Jillian Michaels on The Biggest Loser. Kournikova wasn't the best tennis player in her day, but if her physique is any indication, she does know about being fit!

Alicia Silverstone reportedly gave birth to a 7 lb 15 oz baby boy. She and husband Christopher Jarecki have named their son Bear Blu. I don't understand these unconventional celebrity baby names. Bear Blu may sound cute now, but that boy will have to live with the name when he's a grown man!

Elizabeth Taylor passed away in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure. Among her many awards and accolades, she won two Academy Awards for Best Actress (for Butterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild.

Petra Nemcova recounts tsunami experience

Supermodel Petra Nemcova knows about tsunamis. She survived the 2004 Indonesian tsunami by clinging onto a tree for hours. Says Nemcova, "To see [the images] on Friday morning was horrifying. My heart was broken. My love was going to everyone in Japan. It's something so hard to imagine without going through. And I can imagine it because of my experience. You just feel hopelessness."

Nemcova can be also be seen in the new season of Dancing With the Stars, which is quite a feat considering she had major surgery and had to learn to walk again after her 2004 ordeal.
